Penny is a 6 year old black cat adopted from The Nebraska Humane Society. She is very receptive to learning new tricks and enjoys getting out of the house to train at the studio. For those things that she can't do, she has a radio controlled and puppeteered counterpart. Other puppet cats serve as her lighting stand-ins and for any dangerous stunts. She was given the name Penny by the shelter and I liked it enough to keep it and use it as her character's name in the series. In 2019 another black cat, Judy, was adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society as a kitten and first appeared in the episode, The Feline Mystique. Both Judy and Penny play the same character Penny but since they each have their own specialties and personalities they are used in whatever scenes that they work best in.
